Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: The nose gives some sweet yet meaty notes of honey glazed ham and duck with plums. The malt is clean and crisp with the oak notes sitting well in \nthe background.

Palate: The sweetness continues on the palate with a hint of smoke and tobacco. There is an earth undertone to this which adds some real balance to the spirit.

Finish: Long, with tobacco and cloves. The oak is in balance.

Comment: A well-made malt that is just a touch musty.

Score: 7.9

Taster

Nose: Wonderfully fresh and aromatic with sweet cherries in syrup, clove and toasty oak. Hints of barley and oxidised cognac-like fruit, chalk and honey follow.

Palate: Full and robust with upfront oxidised dried fruit, barley and a light syrup note. Mineral and chalky with subtle toasty oak, cinnamon and clove.

Finish: Long and really smooth with lingering oxidised fruit, drying oak and coffee.

Comment: Distinctly different and proving once again that great whisky-making isn’t just the preserve of the Scottish.
