Taster

Nose: Intense aromas! Peaches and cream, with dried apricots and pouring honey. Apple pie and vanilla custard. Almonds. Lime marmalade with a touch of mango chutney.

Palate: Not as exciting, but vibrant and different – mango and lime marmalade. Grapefruits and pineapple, but held in check by aggressive wood tannins. Lovely viscosity though.

Finish: Reasonably long, but the flavours fade quickly leaving a vegetative bitterness.

Comment: It feels like there’s a lot of this type of whisky about at the moment.

Score: 7.6

Taster

Nose: Cardamom pods with honey and warm milk, like a decent Chai tea, spicy and creamy. Doesn’t give away its strength unwatered. Pear and pork scratching. Farmyards.

Palate: An alcohol zing, tamed with water, but there is fruit and spices underneath. Earl Grey tea like tannins then a huge fruit, mainly orange zest, and vanilla fudge wave hits.

Finish: Pretty long and rich then sweet sherbet drying that ends with those tannins.

Comment: Alcohol is restrained until the palate. Water opens it up to be a fun dram.
