Nose: Groundnut oil mixed with dry oak and cereal. Chalky, just-baked fruit cake. Not a lot by way of interaction. With water it’s flat.
Palate: More substance than on the the nose and the fruitiness in the centre suggests that more time in cask wouldn’t have hurt. Light maltiness.
Finish: Green fruits.
Comment: Not firing fully yet.
Score: 6.5
Taster
Nose: Malty and nutty. Dry hay, honey. Dried meadow flowers. A hint of barley sugar and butterscotch.
Palate: Round and mellow. Velvety. Mint toffee. Refreshing and coating. Malty. Getting spicy.
Finish: Dry, spicy. Slightly crisp.
Comment: A well balanced malty character. Needs a dash of water to cut the dry edges on the finish.
Score: 8
