Nose: Slow to open at first then those old familiar Islay notes appear. Smoked fish and briny warm stones. Standing outside the distillery when the peak reek is on, malty and Lapsang Suchong tea. There is the sweetness of watermelon.
Palate: Blood orange juice sweetness and that little bitter edge, then the smoke unfurls. Hot smoked salmon. The herbal quality of rosemary and the fattiness of roast lamb.
Finish: Sweet, smoky.
Comment: Delightful, an easy going Islay dram, a very gentle character and layered.

Nose: A really sweet smoke welcomes you in. Becomes a little briny; preserved fish and tuna tins, which adds something savoury.
Palate: That savoury opens up, through smoked haddock. This is followed by a maltiness, faint honey and oat biscuits.
Finish: Initially really malty as the smoke fades. There's a gentle, earthy sugar, before crisp fish skins.
Comment: Just wow! Savoury to sweet and back again. Really good balance and layers of intrigue. A two-course meal.
