Great balance. One to accompany a bacon sandwich I would say.

Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Lots of lovely smoky whiskies in this edition and this is no exception, gentle smoke, bacon from the kitchen downstairs, next door’s peat fire, griddled peaches and pineapple chunks in sugar syrup.

Palate: Lapsang Souchong tea in the back garden, apple blossom sweetness, a grass bonfire just catching light, a little sulphur and leaf mulch.

Finish: Dries nicely with that smoked bacon oiliness and sweetness from fruit syrup.

Comment: Great balance. One to accompany a bacon sandwich I would say.

Score: 7.9

Taster

Nose: Soft wisp from a far off beach bonfire, lemon drops, crunchy Granny Smith apples and caramelised pears.

Palate: An orchard barbecue, with buckets of juicy fresh fruits mingling with coal smoke. Mandarin segments, grape juice and tarte tatin with buttery, flaky pastry.

Finish: Sweet, smoky, and a little meaty.

Comment: Fresh, juicy and smoky – a good one for the hip flask.
