A zingy, fruity sip that took me right to a warm beach.
The Causeway Collection 1997 Rum Cask
No age statement
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Sweet liquorice and vanilla. Gentle tropical fruit notes of papaya and cantaloupe melon. Plain scones and strawberry preserve. A touch of fresh, pulpy orange juice.
Palate: Light-medium bodied. Tropical fruit salad served with a punchy syrup. Well-cooked sweet waffles with vanilla ice cream. Fresh mint and floral honey.
Finish: Medium, fading on mango and mint.
Comment: A zingy, fruity sip that took me right to a warm beach.
Nose: Chalk fruit drops, subtle rubber bands, old-fashioned sweet shop and old books. Petrichor, mandarin and porridge with honey. A whiff of violet and potpourri.
Palate: Light-medium bodied and easy drinking. Flapjack with dried pineapple and mango pieces. Cherry jam, orange sherbet, rice paper and icing sugar. Violet and grape-like notes – like Cognac.
Finish: Medium-short. On the icing sugar and candied orange.
Comment: Big, simple flavours reveal complexity with time on the palate.
