Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Wonderfully autumnal, leaf mulch and damp earth. Then a lovely sweetness emerges, salted caramel brownies with cherry compote and kiwi fruit ice cream. There’s almost a hint of fresh mint leaf too.

Palate: Follows the nose nicely with those autumnal notes: drying leaves, distant wood fires, and a little freshly cured leather. Sweetness comes in the shape of caramel wafers and custard cream.

Finish: Long and coating, with black treacle bitterness, olive sourdough bread and peanut butter.

Taster

Nose: Comes at you with obvious heft. Sweetness of mandarins and orange peel, some cream and a little fresh sawdust.

Palate: Toffee apples, sherry notes and some ripe red berries. Smoked ham with orange notes. Moves into medicinal territory near the end. Mouthfeel is really oily and actually has the sensation of taking your prescriptions.

Finish: Long and smoke comes to the fore.

Comment: Great complexity to it, twisting this way and that. Harmony between notes is done well – all in all a really good dram.
