A good strong character with a brilliant finish, love that chilli prickle, one for before dinner.

Nose: Elusive sweetness and floral notes seem to spin and fade. Underneath there’s fine-cut orange marmalade, brown bread toast and a spicy pepperiness.
Palate: All that stewed orange and sugar comes through in waves balanced with a little oak grip and black pepper spice.
Finish: Swift but leaves a distinct mark with a chilli heat prickle.
Comment: A good strong character with a brilliant finish, love that chilli prickle, one for before dinner.

Taster
Nose: Perfumed and delicate with sweet apple blossom and icing sugar, a slightly richer fruitiness in dried citrus peel, green apple skin and conference pears in a light custard.
Palate: Silky and sweet, with more of that icing sugar and baked apples soaked in a vanilla crème. Dry toasted oak spices like cinnamon, anise and pepper wash across the palate with a surprising chilli heat.
Finish: Chilli-infused vanilla custard, with some dry oak.
Comment: Packs a punch in the spice department for such a delicate whisky.
Score: 7.7
