13 Years Old, Bourbon
Nose: Violets. Nutmeg. cigar smoke. Slightly woody.
Palate: Malty, toffeeish, juicy, lemony, spicy, minty.
Finish: Spicy, gingery, warming.
Comment: Despite this being older, it is less astringently woody than the similar five-year-old.
Nose: Mahogany. Lovely, fragrant, but huge nose mixing old roses, molasses, vanilla, burnt orange, cinnamon and toffee apple.
Palate: Ripe and sweet with an almost immediate zap of rye which gives way to sweet fruit.
Finish: Long and rich with caramelised fruit and well integrated oak.
Comment: Who said bourbon can't age?
