I love Clynelish to bits but this was almost too much even for me.
Aged 14 Years
Year of Bottling
Nose: A contrary nose: clotted cream, honeycomb, green mango/peach stone, orange honey and welly boots. Water brings out burnt grass and wax.
Palate: Rounded, sweet and rich: peach juice with a soft, waxy texture. Candle wax and overripe fruit.
Finish: Dry and firm.
Comment: I love Clynelish to bits but this was almost too much even for me.
Nose: Warm. Gently smoky and peaty.
Palate: Big, syrupy-smooth. Dry maltiness. Again, gentle smokiness. Touch of the vegetal character typical in Clynelish.
Finish: Dry. Slightly bitter. Leafy. Appetising.
Comment: Firm, dry, confident. Not quite as expressive as the best bottlings.
