Caol Ila Distillery
Spent ashes in a deserted croft.
13 Years Old
Nose: Sweaty, salty skin, some oyster brine, smoke. Slightly skeletal.
Palate: Clean. White pepper, a perception of salinity. Heather. Zesty, but light.
Comment: Spent ashes in a deserted croft.
Nose: Intensely phenolic. Smoky, rooty at first but the smoke fades away and does not leave much behind.
Palate: Sweet but quite diluted.Watery midpalate. The smoke is there but not much else. Maybe a faint shellfish note.
Finish: Short, thin. With a hint of liquorice and ginger.
Comment: A thin whisky. Quite disappointing. I was expecting body and oiliness.
