Nose: Orange peel and salted fudge pieces, savoury and saline, a little BBQ pork. Rosemary and red cabbage. Some sweetness with melting brown sugar.
Palate: Sweetness tempered by a saline and savoury cracker edge. Prawns and chilli sauce, with a peanut sauce. Cracked white pepper and cumin.
Finish: All sweet until that saline note builds up and then dries with the spices and pepper.
Comment: A must for visiting the Scottish islands. Balanced with great spices.
Score: 8.5
Taster
Nose: Savoury, smoked salmon skin and an earthy vegetal note. A little sweetness breaks through near the end as a honey-glaze.
Palate: That smoky note continues, becomes more pronounced and develops a saltiness. Sun-dried tomatoes brings some sweetness to the savoury. Something fishy about this one.
Finish: Long and lasting. Smoky fish, with salty chips.
Comment: Pretty straight-forward and never strays from anything too savoury.
Score: 7.4
