Nose: Lemon drizzle cake and the vanilla sugary elements of wrapping paper from a packet of fudge. Fruit Polos and crystallised ginger sweets.
Palate: Sweetish at first then a lovely strawberry and black pepper spice note comes through, clingy like balsamic vinegar. Fruit here too and gentle sherry notes and Christmas spices.
Finish: Spicy and long lasting, with hints of caramel and that strawberry sweetness and black pepper spice.
Comment: Great balance. The perfect dram to improve a damp Sunday afternoon.
Score: 8.7
Taster
Nose: Americano coffee underpinned with lots of red fruits. Sugar syrup just lingers around.
Palate: Sweet and spice. Strawberry jam and and a little oak, that balances rather than overwhelms. Faintly cinammon and clove – mulled wine.
Finish: Fairly long, although the spice comes and goes. Caramel comes to the fore, while the jam hangs around the back.
Comment: Sweet and spice in really good harmony.
Score: 8
