Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Fat, sherried aromas: walnut/pecan, date, treacle toffee, leather with oily/honeyed notes behind.

Palate: Thick, sweet and very juicy. Ripe and full with dry nuttiness around it. Robust and a bit slick.

Finish: Soft.

Comment: A northern monster in which Scapa's lusciousness is left as texture with the sherry having a greater impact.

Score: 7.5

Taster

Nose: Sherry wood indeed. Slightly winey. Stewed quinces with cinnamon. Buttered apples. Beeswax.

Palate: Thick mouthfeel. Malty flavours break through oak. Spices emerging.

Finish: Strong. Liquoriced and spicy. Black pepper.

Comment: Rich and generous. Again, overwhelming distillery character.
