Not really a talkative type until right at the end, but still intriguing stuff.
Extra 13, Selectively Finished in American Rye Cask
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Very gentle and almost closed at first. Nothing much apart from vanilla sweetness, spun sugar and tinned peaches in syrup.
Palate: Again continues from the nose, doesn’t give much away. Still sweet up front with poached pears, walnut whips and candied citrus peel. Slowly some spices unfold, white pepper prickle.
Finish: Those spices and pepper kick flood through and then vanish, leaving marmalade and vanilla.
Comment: Not really a talkative type until right at the end, but still intriguing stuff.
Nose: Surprisingly shy aside from wine gums, green fruit pastilles and, oddly, lime pickle.
Palate: Gentle, and very delicate in flavour. Hints of lemon zest and green fruits before becoming creamy with zingy oak spice and sherbet.
Finish: That lime pickle comes back into play.
Comment: That zesty lime flair would be excellent in a Highball.
