Taster

Nose: Initially a veritable red fruit salad, raspberries, strawberries, red apples and a tang of redcurrants too. Underneath there is a layer of spice, cloves, crystallised ginger and toasted chilli flakes.

Palate: Waves of flavour come through, starting with the fruit sweetness before the spices and oak start to take over. There’s chilli heat towards the end, then a spoonful of honey.

Finish: Chilli spice and honey all the way. A little cashew nut too.

Comment: A nice balance of that sweet fruit and savoury.

Score: 8

Taster

Nose: Led by cloudy apple and raspberry juice, lime zest and white grape. Next comes white chocolate, toffee popcorn and strawberry laces. There’s allspice and ginger, with some melon sweetness.

Palate: Instantly fruity, almost wine-like. Dehydrated apples and candied ginger, honeycomb and fondant. Subtle tannin adds structure. Later on comes some lingering nuttiness — peanuts and some cashews.

Finish: Sweet and full. Fades to red apple skin.

Comment: Very well put together, this one.
