Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Red cola and maraschino cherries, then cupcakes with strawberry and cinnamon icing. Water opens up herbal notes of coriander and mint. A clean, wet slate and strawberry soda.
Palate: White chocolate flavoured with strawberry. Sweet with toffee and fondant. Concentrated apple juice and cherry syrup.
Finish: Sweet, unctuous and coating.
Comment: Deliciously sweet, bagfuls of pudding.
Nose: Dense and lumpen slabs of molasses, abetted by dark treacle, walnuts, orange ring and dried grape. Becomes very spicy - cinnamon and black pepper with a touch of warm vanilla. Now it starts to show some elegance!
Palate: Dense and very mouth-filling but elegant with molasses coated dried fruit and an almost agricole-esque herbal note developing.
Finish: Long and powerful finish with the dried fruit and treacle lingering along with the earthy notes. Lovely, light herbal fade.
Comment: Dark Horse huh? A very apt name.
