Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Redcurrant sweetness, fresh line-dried sheets, a bowl of Jelly Babies. Brandy snap biscuits with vanilla custard. Plenty of sweetness mixed with a little sharp fruit.

Palate: Soft and fruity, those redcurrants are joined by tinned peaches in sugar water. Plenty of vanilla cream notes come through, combined with some grape skin tannins.

Finish: Long and very soft. As it takes its time the tannins slowly build.

Comment: Lovely balance of malt and grain, wrapped in some gorgeous sweetness and oak vanillas.

Score: 7.8

Taster

Nose: A funky first impression of red wine must and wet forest floor, but with dense raspberry and blackcurrant jam. As it settles things turn toward wood polish, leather and sticky dried fruit: figs, prunes and dark cherries.

Palate: As rich and deep as the nose suggests, with that earthiness alongside morello cherry, liquorice, blackcurrants, dark chocolate, and bitter walnut skin.

Finish: Earthy still, all liquorice and sticky figs.

Comment: One to enjoy with a generous wedge of chocolate cake.
