Nose: Juicy and rather pretty. Orange, lime, malt. Becomes fruitier in time: pear juice/fresh pineapple. Quite tense.
Palate: Hint of mustiness but good weight. Fruit syrup. Seems to dry and tighten from mid-palate back.
Finish: Dry, grassy.
Comment: More about feel than flavour. Seems pent up.
Score: 7.3
Taster
Nose: Delicately flavoured peat. Even more delicate sweet malt background.
Palate: Austere. Cereal grain. Dry. Passion fruit. Bittersweet.
Finish: Glowing. Long.
Comment: I loved the aroma. After that the stern, impenetrable palate was frustrating but in keeping with the mood. A good, old-fashioned Speysider.
Score: 8.5
