Taster

Nose: Very reminiscent of opening a bag of fresh coffee beans, sweet with a gentle bitter edge. Then fruit shows up in the form of raspberries and a touch of overripe bananas. Buttered toasted crumpets too.

Palate: Very soft and mellow, no sharp edges here. Gentle oak vanillas and lovely rich Golden Syrup. Fresh chocolate sponge cake with raspberry jam.

Finish: Darkens a little with the sweetnes moving to black treacle and prune juice.

Comment: Intriguing stuff, that balances all the right things.

Score: 8.2

Taster

Nose: There is a suggestion of fruit coming through, but it’s more of an imitation. Think foam bananas and Dr Pepper. Victoria sponge, honeycomb, freshly baked cheese scones and custard creams as well.

Palate: A carefree palate of steamed soy milk, scorched grapefruit peel and fresh linen with an edge of almond butter and dried apricots. That soft Maltesers melting in the mouth sensation.

Finish: Chalky texture with an initial hit of sour notes but it softens quickly and ends.

Comment: Fresh, airy and arguably a grower.
