Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Spicy and floral up front: jasmine, fresh pine shavings and thyme. Tinned peaches and wet slate.

Palate: A whisky of two halves. At first it’s sweet, with pecan pie and vanilla ice cream. And then you get a bitter yellow grapefruit, lemon oils and tree sap in the second half.

Finish: Drying. The duality continues: more of those pecans, but this time sprinkled on a treacle tart, with the ever-present vanilla, alongside that grapefruit bitterness.

Comment: For the Dr Jekylls and Mr Hydes out there.

Score: 7.6

Taster

Nose: Orchard fruits drizzled in golden syrup. Barley sugar and mixed peel. Sweet tablet. Lemonade. When the fruit fades it’s pleasantly vegetative, mossy and grassy.

Palate: A lovely medium-weight texture. Baked apple pies with a touch of ginger, covered in cream. Tonic water. Mead and a splash of grapefruit. Lemon sorbet.

Finish: Honeyed, with warming ginger and just a little sour acidity to knock it off balance.

Comment: This is very pleasing stuff indeed, with some refreshing, crisp flavours.
