Caol Ila Distillery
Balanced, complex. Highest recommendation.
25 Years Old
Year of Bottling
Nose: Maturity in immediate evidence. Plenty of leather oil alongside scented grassiness, dried apple and subtle smoke. As it develops there’s fruit peelings, peppermint, a hint of lavender/lilac.
Palate: More smoke, but in a relaxed fashion rather than being overpowering. Citrus before the smoke returns.
Finish: Peppery and vibrant.
Comment: Balanced, complex. Highest recommendation.
Nose: Smoky. Cold ashes. The kiln two days after. Complex. Opens on almondy notes, nearly marzipan. Honey comb.
Palate: Sweet at start. Smoky maltiness. The same rich almond notes. Mint toffee.
Finish: Dry, spicy. Lingering. A touch of iodine as well.
Comment: A complex, rich, intense whisky. A wonderfully mature and well mannered islander.
