Nose: Banoffee pie with whipped cream. Dates and dried apricots. Fried plantain. Chopped walnuts and dark chocolate. Subtle cinnamon stick.
Palate: Mouth-filling. Ginger biscuits with a thick dark chocolate coating. Darker fruit – sticky, syrupy dates and figs. A babka (sweet, enriched bread) studded with chocolate and hazelnuts.
Finish: Medium length, on those chocolate-dipped ginger biscuits.
Comment: A sweet delight with nice balance, if slightly boisterous.

Taster
Nose: Furniture polish, old paper, old oak furniture, rose water and some gentian. Sponge cake, chive and dandelion. Treacle tart, too.
Palate: Medium-full bodied. Sweet, herbal and nutty – reminiscent of vermouth. Cherry pastilles, eucalyptus, and liquorice, with cola cube. Cranberry jam and bitter dark chocolate. Some nutmeg, brown sugar and ginger beer. Sweetens considerably with water, with toffee and strawberry jam.
Finish: Long, on strawberry and peanut.
Comment: Complexity is there but the heat could use more time to mellow.
Score: 8.3
