Nose
Malty and oaky. Farmyard note of wet straw. Then the nose opens on fruit. Stewed apples and medlars. Very autumnal, with an earthy touch. Fruit loaf with lots of sultanas. Complex, multilayered. Custard and toffee.
Palate
Crisp, lively. Sweet fruit then dusty spices emerge.
Finish
Long, slightly astringent then soothing on custardy notes.
Comment
A complex nose, a clean and lively palate. Alcohol is well mastered. Oak is well integrated. A touch of water cuts the edges. Very enjoyable.
