Nose
Intense. Oaky and malty. Toasted brown bread. Roasted coffee beans. Getting rubbery. Sherry notes unwinds. Walnut stain. A muscular but complex nose. Opens of dried fruit and oriental spices. Now, it is enticing!
Palate
Sweet at first then oak brings in astringency. And alcohol a biting feel on the tongue. But a pleasant flavour of cappuccino and pepper. A few drops of water (just a few) brings out creamy toffee and spice dust.
Finish
Dry, spicy, with a walnut aftertaste.
Comment
A difficult but enticing nose. Give time to this whisky to let it reveal its intricacy.
