Nose: Early spring gorse flowers, roasted pineapples, all butter shortbread biscuits. Uncooked smoked bacon. Then moves to butter mints, wood balsam (beeswax and linseed oil) and the sweetness of apricot Danish pastries.
Palate: Crunchie bars, honeycomb and dark chocolate. There’s a serious Tabasco heat to this. Sweetness comes from apple turnovers and chilli jam.
Finish: Short but packs a serious punch with some big spices.
Comment: Very hot for its ABV, but very entertaining for sure.

Taster
Nose: Full and chewy with roasted hazelnuts and almonds, dark chocolate and stewed plums. Raisins, hot toffee sauce, oil paints and old leather saddle bags create a damp and dusty sweetness.
Palate: Hot and spicy straight off the bat with plums in a star anise and cinnamon syrup, crystalised ginger and white pepper. A softness builds with salted popcorn.
Finish: Full. Bold. Chewy. Takes no prisoners.
Comment: Rather like eating Dundee Cake and spicy gingerbread smothered in hot custard in an old library.
Score: 9.1
