Nose: Has depth and presence: liquorice, fruits de bois. Slightly oily almost like mutton fat with a touch of buttermilk underneath. Water makes it drier: nut shell, cereal, spice.
Palate: Covers the tongue, but the oak is quite grippy. Decent spread of flavours.
Finish: Long, mixing toasted cereal and dried fruit.
Comment: A slightly uneasy balance between cereal, fruit and oak. Do not water.
Score: 7.5
Taster
Nose: Sultanas and butter. A little sweet mint and some chestnuts. Candied peel and ginger, with a little citrus.
Palate: Very sweet, velvety and viscous. Sexy texture with satisfying balance of orangey fruitiness, flowers and malt.
Finish: Gingerbead.
Comment: Tasty stuff.
Score: 8.3
