Taster

Nose: Tiramisu and walnut cake. There’s a little earthiness too, fresh turned soil, walnut skins, tea-soaked prunes and raisins. Sweetness with black treacle and melting muscovado sugar. Wafts of Latakia pipe tobacco and smoky Tabasco.

Palate: Peppery, then raisins and sultanas. Vinyl records and their sleeves. Something festive too – nutmeg, egg custard, cinnamon.

Finish: Richness holds with milk chocolate pennies and hints of vanilla pipe smoke.

Comment: Perfect for this time of year, and for me, a dessert whisky.

Taster

Nose: Banana ice cream with a drizzling of hot raspberry sauce and crushed meringues. Rosemary, stewed tea leaves and roasted hazelnuts develop.

Palate: Hints of linseed oil infused with orange pith and green tea creating a sharp bitterness at the forefront. To follow, samphire barbequed with chilli flakes and some lush pink grapefruit segments.

Finish: An oily consistency with a salted sweetness.

Comment: Well, talk about keeping you on your toes. This is certainly a sipper.
