Convalmore Distillery (Closed 1985)
ABV 40%
Convalmore was not the greatest malt when reasonably youthful. As a near 40 Years Old it has gained some tasty character, though most of it is of the bourbon variety.

Nose: Shades of violets and cloves with a lightly honeyed maltiness. The oak is commendably restrained for its age, though a little bourbony.
Palate: Big malt and honeycomb, lots of oak. That bourbon feel powers through with a toffee-treacle sweetness.
Finish: Long and oily. The oak gives a deep, drying vanilla intensity and some liquorice and chicory.

Taster
Nose: Aromatic, oily, with very clean smoke.
Palate: Begins with a good malt background. Distinctly oily. Again, lightly smoky.
Finish: Light malt and a hint of honey and yet more oiliness. Hint of sulphur and clean peatiness, warming and long.
Comment: Try it with a book at bedtime.
