Nose
Punchy, add water and there is red wine with caramel and grippy oak. Goat’s cheese with honey on toasted rye. Blackberry compote.
Palate
The alcohol is upfront, a drop of water and it goes floral and sweet. Orange marmalade, toasted sesame seeds and borage honey. The tannins lurk in the shape of lovely oak.
Finish
Huge oak tannin grip and then spices, ending with sweetness.
Comment
Like adding water to the coals in a sauna, warm but satisfying. I keep saying it’s time to pay more attention to Aus.
