Like adding water to the coals in a sauna, warm but satisfying. I keep saying it’s time to pay more attention to Aus.

Nose: Punchy, add water and there is red wine with caramel and grippy oak. Goat’s cheese with honey on toasted rye. Blackberry compote.
Palate: The alcohol is upfront, a drop of water and it goes floral and sweet. Orange marmalade, toasted sesame seeds and borage honey. The tannins lurk in the shape of lovely oak.
Finish: Huge oak tannin grip and then spices, ending with sweetness.

Taster
Nose: Caramel sweetness and oak spice tingle. Around the edges it is red wine and there's almost a drying sensation immediately.
Palate: Very forward. I needed to add some water to this one. With this it is citrus forward, lemon and orange zests, before you're holding a lime slice on your tongue. Caramel comes through, before oak tannins dry it out.
Finish: Wooded spices. Finally some sweetness surfaces through honey.
Comment: Good fun. Very winey, which is nice, although palate erred on being a bit citrus heavy.
Score: 7.9
