Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Balsamic. Pine needles. Dry hay. Freshly crushed hazelnuts. Toasted notes with water. Like brown bread toast.

Palate: Sweet with that balsamic character. Pine sap lozenges. Honeyed cereals. A touch of burnt wood and roasted nuts. Drying on spices. Water makes it sweeter.

Finish: Dry with some liquorice as well.

Comment: The nose is more expressive than the palate. A delicate sweetness.

Score: 7.7

Taster

Nose: Resinous, bow rosin, reminds me of an old double bass: sweet woody notes, beeswax and old velvet. There is a malt edge as well, baking bread in a hot oven.

Palate: Hints of eucalyptus, Swiss herbal sweets, baklava, honey and pistachio nuts. Some spices as well. There is a deep note lurking of dark treacle.

Finish: Astringent with more spices emerging.

Comment: Really well put together, a great example of the excellent whiskies coming out of this part of the world.
