Nose
Multi-seed crackers. Lots of spice: coriander, allspice, cumin, cinnamon stick. Golden syrup, stem ginger, light red-berry notes, and subtle oily citrus.
Palate
Medium bodied, with lovely oiliness. The spices recede to reveal bready grain notes, with sweet blackcurrant jam. Gentle dark chocolate and espresso with demerara sugar. Lemon posset and more stem ginger. A grassy hint, like sugar cane.
Finish
Medium-short. Back on multi-seed cracker, with a little golden syrup.
Comment
Proof that grain whisky can be just as nuanced and exciting as malt.
