Taster

Nose: Amarena cherries in syrup, blackberry jam, liquorice, eucalyptus oil, and Jamaican ginger loaf. Plum and raspberry jam, bruised strawberry, and flapjack. Milk chocolate and a whiff of varnished mahogany. Unlit Maduro cigar.

Palate: Medium-full. Super-juicy fruits of the forest, subtle liquorice, black cherry jam, tobacco. Just a hint of sage and pistachio. A wine-y note, like syrah.

Finish: Long, on blackcurrant and pistachio.

Comment: A wonderfully integrated marriage of spirit and oak. Delicious.

Score: 8.7

Taster

Nose: A bag of Liquorice Allsorts, sweet brown sugar, barbequed pork chop, orange peel and treacle sponge pudding.

Palate: A nice continuation of the brown sugar – it’s turning into sticky toffee pudding, with chunks of date, more aniseed and herbal sage.

Finish: Lovely lingering aniseed notes and the treacle pudding leads out.

Comment: A mixed bag of punchy and unique flavours that create a hugely characterful whisky that is very well executed.
