Needs water to open the nose, but the palate is rather simple.
12 Years Old
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Bready with a tickle of smoke. With water a herbal note (rosemary). With water more tarry notes appear. A little plain.
Palate: Clean, malty but surprisingly light. The smoke is a mere wisp in the background. Little hollow in the centre.
Finish: Dies a quick and painless death.
Comment: Needs water to open the nose, but the palate is rather simple.
Nose: Outdoor fragrances. Garrigue herbs (thyme, savory). Earthy with a floral touch (wet forest ground after a summer shower). A hint of curry. A distant tar note.
Palate: Sweet, round, syrupy. Toffee, liquorice. A peated note. Oak is well integrated.
Finish: Dancing on tastebuds. Spicy. Thyme comes back.
Comment: An interesting dram. Perfumy, dense on the palate though so sweet at first. Satisfying.
