Taster

Nose: Richly oaky with malt, bung cloth and dried fruits. Water brings the fruits to the fore. Very juicy, like semi-dried pears and apricots.

Palate: Soft, managing to be both succulently fruity and slightly wild in nature. Oak, spice and heather.

Finish: Slightly oaky.

Comment: A good sipping dram that's not too demanding but has good weight and a supple body.

Score: 7.8

Taster

Nose: Piney. Cedary. Oaky.

Palate: Nutty. Bittersweet orange marmalade. Sweet lemons.

Finish: A surprising, refreshing acidity. Tangy. Salty. Echoes of the sea.

Comment: The sherry, and the balance of flavours, seem to work better in this version.
