Strathmill Distillery
ABV 64.2%
This bottling strongly manifests the woody dryness that seems to characterise the whiskies from the Islay valley. Water brings out Strathmill's muscat note.

Nose: Dryish. Faintly peaty.
Palate: Spicy and fruity. Very pronounced dessert apples. Lemons. Cloves also very emphatic.
Finish: Still dry, but nicely rounded.

Taster
Nose: Mandarin oranges with a note reminiscent of rotting vegetable matter. Citrus and turnip tops: it's like one of my mother's less successful soups.
Palate: Hot and peppery - this needs lots of water. A dusty/flour sack note and those neeps again.
Finish: Malty.
Comment: Those decaying vegetables give this a really weird edge. Was the cask too close to the kitchen?
