Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Very odd: turnip skin, bread crust, burning wood. With water, Indian spices and blonde tobacco notes.

Palate: Liquorous. Marsala-like burnt edge. A little tannic and tight in the mouth. Water loosens things up bringing out orange and chocolate.

Finish: Short, slightly bitter.

Comment: Can't quite get over that odd nose.

Score: 7

Taster

Nose: Woody. Rich oak. Burnt wood. But also a touch of wet damp cellar with must on the walls.

Palate: Thick, syrupy. Smooth and sweet. Chestnut purée. Wood is more integrated than expected. Coffee toffee.

Finish: Long, peppery.

Comment: Reveals more balance on the palate than expected. Certainly on the wood side but in a rich and complex way.
