Nose

Immediate waft of Werther’s Originals to start, then melted butter, carrot, and orange cake with cream cheese icing. More sultanas and brown sugar with water.

Palate

Surprisingly palatable at full strength — lots of raisins and orange peel, with a hint of smoke. With water, well balanced with a touch more bitterness and aromatic spice like frankincense.

Finish

Rich and lengthy, with a warming oakiness across the whole palate.

Comment

This whisky is one to sip late into the evening on a cold winter’s night.
