Taster

Nose: Ground cumin, palm oil, coriander, roasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds, butterscotch, and coffee-cream chocolates with brandy. Ripe mango and pineapple. A hint of burnt and iodine notes.

Palate: Medium-full. Honey-glazed roasted carrots and butternut squash. Poached pears and red apples, with muscovado sugar. Tinned mandarins and a little ripe banana. Caramel soft cookie.

Finish: Medium-long. The burnt and medicinal notes fade to coriander seed.

Comment: Complex, with unexpected turns alongside mainstream character.

Taster

Nose: Iced cinnamon Danish pastries. Warmly spiced apple compote. Smoked cheddar cheese and oat cakes. Rich caramel and nutty notes, like caramelised pecans. Hints of dry grassy spice.

Palate: Light-medium. Smoked cheese and crispy bacon come first. Then raspberry-ripple ice cream with lots of caramel sauce. Buttered malt loaf, nutty oat flapjacks, and a hint of dried cranberry.

Finish: Long, on subtle bacon, black pepper, and buttered rye bread.

Comment: Surprisingly light texture. The smoky notes were nicely balanced.
