Nose: Sweet. Oily. Zest of lime.
Palate: Fresh. Slips down beautifully. Slippery, creamy, fruity (lime again).
Finish: Clean, crisp. Biscuity. Enough dryness to make me want another.
Comment: Seems slightly maltier and more estery than its stablemates.
Score: 7.5
Taster
Nose: Vaguely musty but enlivened by sultanas.
Palate: Early sweet malt and then a rush of some rather hot, uncontrolled spices.
Finish: Absolute beauty at last as the maltiness has settled.
Comment: A surprisingly eclectic and unwielding style of Cooley single malt (as opposed to pure pot still as it says on the label) that lacks charm and balance in the earliest moments. Ultimately disappointing.
Score: 7.5
