A beautiful dram but just on the edge of having spent too long in cask.

Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Deep, oaky. Damp warehouse. Fungal. Strong sherry influence. Dark chocolate. Cooked damson plums. A balsamic touch (cedar, eucalyptus).

Palate: Smooth, sweet. Oaky but oak is well integrated. Plenty of liquorice and chocolate.

Finish: Dry, slightly astringent. Peppery.

Comment: A beautiful dram but just on the edge of having spent too long in cask.

Score: 8.3

Taster

Nose: Roast tomatoes, a damp herbal edge, Parkin cake, treacle toffee, honeyed apples, big hints of sherry, maturing casks.

Palate: Dark chocolate and espresso grinds, treacle toffee again. A mature quality, oak and leather but married with a sweet spicy edge.

Finish: Smooth and dry, with a touch of Christmas cake.

Comment: More a sherry hand grenade that a full on bomb, but lovely stuff nonetheless.
