Boom – what a rye. If perfection was possible this is very close. Well balanced and nuanced.

Nose: Huge and bold at first, all most too full on, but slowly reveals its gentle side of rich vanilla, cherry jam and dark rye bread. Cigar wrappers and travel humidor boxes.
Palate: Still keeping things big and punchy here, with maraschino cherries, dusty bookshelves and plenty of wood spice. After a while, beeswax and furniture polish.
Finish: Rich, deep and long. Slowly dries out on spices and honey.
Comment: Boom – what a rye. If perfection was possible this is very close. Well balanced and nuanced.

Taster
Nose: What a whack attack on the nostrils – hot croissants, dark chocolate, butterscotch Angel Delight and blackcurrant jam all bundled up in a cedar box full of black pepper.
Palate: Juicy and spicy with distinct notes of blackcurrant, pear crumble and perhaps just a trace of fresh mint on the finish. Richer flavours develop with mahogany, treacle and sultanas creating depth.
Finish: A soft, leathery texture heats and dries the upper palate leaving you salivating for more.
Comment: An absolutely banging rye, that doesn’t disappoint.
Score: 8.9
