Nose: Citrussy and perfumed. Lemon, jasmine, white flowers, and somewhat powdery, like walking through the cosmetic concessions of a department store or a garden in bloom. Pollen and cornbread.
Palate: Medium-full. Fresh green apple and pear, cinnamon sugar, clove, and chamomile tea with honey. Lemon. Delicate florals, like orange blossom.
Finish: Medium. Florals and citrus fade as delicate white tea tannins grip, leaving apple core.
Comment: Doesn’t nose like bourbon, and the palate seems to shift between styles. Keeps you on your toes!
Score: 8.3
Taster
Nose: Coconut macaroons. Deep fruit notes of blackcurrant and black cherry jam. Creamy milk chocolate and pecan nut. Woody spice: cinnamon stick and clove. Hints of banoffee pie.
Palate: Medium. Black cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant with pecan brittle. Milk chocolate and coconut cookie. Sweet baking spice, like cinnamon and vanilla sugar on doughnuts. Cherry cola.
Finish: Long, with pleasant tannins and notes of chocolate-dipped cherry.
Comment: A fruit-forward bourbon that would shine in an Old Fashioned.
Score: 8.3
