I was perplexed by this but the new wood and beer finishing explain the flavours.
New Holland Artisan Spirits
Beer Barrel Bourbon
No age statement
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Eucalyptus and iced coffee. Aniseed balls. It became cooler with water and ashy in texture. Some waxy polish on dark wood.
Palate: Liquorice Allsorts, toasted wheat and spelt toast. Clean charcoal and flint with water and then some cinnamon. Hard to get hold of this.
Finish: The spiciness was lost with water, it became thin though.
Comment: I was perplexed by this but the new wood and beer finishing explain the flavours.
Nose: Perfumy. Floral. Daffodils. Vetiver. Sandalwood. Enticing. More floral notes on time. Peony. A hint of mint.
Palate: Round, thick, quite syrupy. Again that floral candy flavour. Liquorice too.
Finish: Sweet and dry.
Comment: Another unusual aromatic profile. The nose is as fragrant as a perfume, the palate concentrates on confectionary but with no excessive sweetness.
