Nose
Coal smoke, petrichor, tilled earth, and wood bark. Eucalyptus, milk chocolate and some treacle. Pretzel dough. Subtle cherry boiled sweets and cola bottle sweets. Water brings out rubber bands.
Palate
Light bodied but hot hot hot. The cola cube is back, with burnt toast and smoked ham. Pear drop and candied almond. Lots of water tames the heat, but reveals ‘birthday balloon’ rubberiness.
Finish
The intensity fades quickly, but the low-level smoke lingers with almond nuttiness.
Comment
The nose was intriguing, but I’d like to try it with more time in cask.
