Floral and delicately spicy. Unexpectedly heady for the style but complex and well put-together.

Nose: Lily pollen, gentian, violin rosin and pine needles. Tea tree oil and calendula. Golden syrup, candied orange and gingerbread. Candied citrus peels and brandy-soaked raisins. Potpourri.
Palate: Medium. Floral. Orange and raspberry sherbet, parma violet, toffee apple, blackcurrant wine gums, caramel and Turkish delight. Cinnamon and nutmeg, too.
Finish: Long, on Turkish delight.
Comment: Floral and delicately spicy. Unexpectedly heady for the style but complex and well put-together.
Score: 8.2
Taster
Nose: A big hit of caramel sweetness, followed by a rich, fruity and creamy Black Forest gateau. Light vanilla frosting with some cinnamon spice.
Palate: The dark berries continue, but with the addition of date chunks in a sticky toffee pudding, covered in toffee sauce. There’s some light maltiness and cinnamon bringing gentle warmth.
Finish: Baking spices and smooth caramel carry through on the medium finish.
Comment: It’s just delightful. Smooth, characterful, and delicately formed. Old Fashioned me up with this.
Score: 8.7
