Taster

Nose: Rich and robust.Fruit cake richness, a hint of fireworks, rib of beef, hint of rosin. Layered and complex with masses of integrated oak extract balanced by the fact this is a weighty spirit. Opens and sweetens with water.

Palate: Big and tannic, but there’s also a sweet note of toffee, coffee, Dundee cake, and ripe black fruits. Powerful with great balance.

Finish: Treacle. Long and surprisingly sweet.

Comment: The beast of Dufftown does it again.

Score: 8.5

Taster

Nose: Earthy. Wet moss. Wood covered with fungus. Sherry influence. Dry fruit. Touch of prunes. Then comes custard on the prunes. Quite rich and complex.

Palate: Elegant, complex. Oak frames a sweet display of custard and fruit. Hint of candied chestnut. Lots of spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, cubèbe pepper.

Finish: Lingering on liquorice and spices.

Comment: An old character for sure. Still vibrant. Refined and conversational. Beautiful after dinner dram.
