Nose: Perfumy. Freshly cut wood. But an unusual wood aroma. Then opens up on fruit. Reminds of the spicy candies that are served in Indian restaurants after the meal.
Palate: Sweeter than expected. Wood is well integrated but perceptible. Beeswax. Spicy. Cinnamon.
Finish: Medium length. Nutty. Ends on a bitter note (walnut peel).
Comment: An unusually fragrant dram. Palate does not totally follow though.
Score: 7.5
Taster
Nose: Cream and tangerine peel with some ras el hanout, dried thyme, coal smoke. With water there's toasted oak then coconut wax. Lightly earthy. Coal smoke.
Palate: As expected, a big creamy hit with a silky feel to start; the dry but fragrant spices hitting on the back, though the oak creaks through to dominate slightly. Not a lot in the middle.
Finish: Dry, slightly smoky.
Comment: Shows maturity but very front loaded.
Score: 7.5
