What is the point of this other than to prove that leaving Talisker in first-fill sherry casks for 20 years leads to oblivion?

Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Heavily sherried. Christmas cake, burnt raisin, cold stewed tea. Where's the whisky?

Palate: Very tannic, so woody that the spirit has been obliterated and you have to pick splinters out of your tongue.

Finish: Dry.

Taster

Nose: Sherry from top to bottom. Nothing but wood.

Palate: Sweet and bitter. Wood, wood and wood again. Cigar box. Then, shyly emerging, a mix of fruity and earthy flavours. Hint of peat. Dried fruit.

Finish: Quite long, but soon turning dry and bitter.

Comment: The distillery character is buried far below the wood. One can hardly detect even a light puff of smoke. Water does not help.
