ABV 46%
I expected a sweeter character. Oak tends to overwhelm in an assertive way. Tamed with a dash of water though, this whisky is pleasantly brisk.

Nose: Malty. Toffee, orange peel. Buttery. Shortcrust pastry. A sweet creamy vanilla note. In the back, a meaty note. Like chicken broth.
Palate: Crisp and dry. Oak is grippy. Seville orange. Dark chocolate. Drying on spices. Quite warm.
Finish: Warm and spicy.

Taster
Nose: Full and malty. Mature sawdusty American oak with sweet sherried fruit. Dense and deep with caster sugar and crumbly spice sprinkled apricots and apple. A maritime note balances beautifully.
Palate: Soft, sultana and sweet sherried fruit. Full, robust and malty with treacle, baked dark fruit and a light peat note. The salinity and citrus combine to add freshness on the middle.
Finish: Exceptionally long with the American oak returning. Chocolatey, spiced and maritime.
Comment: A complex malt with the American and European oak spirit working in harmony.
Score: 7.9
